LISTEN NOW: Audacy Check In with Zara Larsson
After taking part in an Audacy Check In to chat all about her new project, Larsson took time to play a game with Audacy’s Mike Adam spotlighting music from other artists that have been the soundtrack to her life.
During the game, Zara revealed Eminem’s “Puke” got her through her first break-up, “Havin Fun” by Fireboy DML makes her want to get close with her partner, and Madonna’s “Papa Don’t Preach” was the first music video she ever saw.
While the game taught us a lot about Larsson’s musical taste, it also revealed the song she loved so much that she got it tattooed on her body, and it just so happened to be hers.
“All my tattoos are chain tattoos, so like, I won’t get one if we don’t have this little bond going on,” she explained when she was asked what song connected to the word tattoo for her. “One of my first ones was ‘Lush Life’ that I did with my band. I have ‘Lush Life’ on my arm and they have 'Lush Life' on various parts of their bodies.”
She continued, “I think it represents just a song that changed my life and that I get to travel the world with my band.”
Larsson continues to make music that changes her life with her band, and fans can hear the latest of their creations by listening to her new album, Venus.
“Venus is such a strong concept in a way, I really like that,” Zara shared during her Check In, “and also the song ‘Venus’ itself is basically a song to love itself or to realize like ‘wow I didn’t know love could be what I’m experiencing now.’”
She continued, “Like what I’ve experienced before has been completely different from this, and now it’s like this new thing and… I’m also releasing this album through my label, I feel like I’m stepping into like womanhood in a different way. I feel grown now, I really do, and I’ve been in industry for quite some time. But now I’m like, I make my own decisions, I’m an adult.”
