8-year-old leaves behind list of life rules before sudden death: ‘She was extremely smart’

A mother and father who lost their daughter one year ago are now sharing the heartfelt list of life rules she wrote before her sudden death.

Ellie Pruitt, the couple's daughter, became sick at school on January 28, 2020. When her health was not improving, she was quickly admitted to Children’s Hospital of Atlanta.

After arriving at the hospital, doctors revealed that Pruitt had an autoimmune disease and Lupus attacking her blood cells, reports Good Morning America.

The young girl died at the age of 8 on February 6, 2020.

“She was extremely smart. She was just so kind to everyone and she knew how to connect with people,” mom Heather Pruitt of Woodstock, Georgia, said. “She was helpful, she was thoughtful, she was a very special little girl.”

“Everything about her we’ll miss,” dad Chuck Pruitt said. “And her brother, of course, he will miss her.”

At the age of 4, their little girl was diagnosed with juvenile arthritis.

When they came home from the hospital, the family saw a list that Ellie had put on her bedroom door before she died.

Now, the family is sharing the heartwarming list.

It read:

1. Have fun
2. No fighting
3. No pushing, shoving, or hitting
4. Always love

Woodstock City Church, the family’s congregation, created cards with Ellie’s photo featuring her rules on the back.

Throughout Ellie’s hometown, her rules were seen on display at schools, restaurants, and businesses.

The hospital she was treated at also posted her rules on its Facebook page.

“One year ago this month, the Queen of Kindness, 8-year-old Ellie Pruitt, gained her angel wings after a lifelong battle with autoimmune diseases,” Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta wrote in the caption, adding that they're asking others to spread kindness in memory of Ellie.

“Whether it’s simply holding the door for a stranger, sending a note to an old friend or completing a random act of kindness for your neighbor, join us as we reconnect, inspire and challenge one another to connect with kindness,” the hospital added.

The family explained how this movement has helped them grieve during this tragic incident.
