This is one animal story that's truly wild.
More than 9,000 turtles were stolen from their natural habitat in Africa and left in a home with no food or water.
Vet techs and specialists from around the world came together to help rescue them from the dire situation, with help from the Oregon Zoo.
After the animals were safe, volunteers helped nurse them back to health and treat their illnesses.
Though it took a little while for them to heal, they're on their way and should be released back to their natural environment soon!
When these turtles needed saving, volunteers around the world were anything but slow and steady!
