BRANSON, Mo. (KMOX) - There are a lot of beautiful views, tourist attractions and family fun to be had around Table Rock Lake in Missouri. But there's one allurement going viral that police want people to stay away from.
An abandoned neighborhood of mansions near Branson, known as Indian Ridge Resort, was featured by a social media account.
The large homes were part of a $1.6 billion resort planned with a hotel, water park, shopping center and more. But the development stopped during the "great recession" in 2008, after two years of building.
Now, all that's left are a number of huge homes on an unfinished street that has "NO TRESPASSING" signs posted everywhere. But apparently some people aren't listening.
The Stone County Sheriff’s Office says it has caught "a constant flow of people walking down in the development all weekend" and they're asking everyone to stay away.
Lawyer Carrie Jernigan, who has more than 600,000 TikTok followers, recently resurfaced the story in a pair of videos. In one, she shows directions on how to get to the site.
