A beauty pageant descended into chaos after a newly-crowned winner was injured after having her tiara torn off her head by a former title holder.

The “Real Housewives”-esque altercation occurred at the Mrs. Sri Lanka World pageant on April 4th after Pushpika De Silva was crowned the winner, reported CNN.

In video footage shared by the Colombo Gazette, last year’s winner and current Mrs. World Caroline Jurie pulled a Kanye and interrupted the crowning ceremony by declaring De Silva should be disqualified over her marital status.

"As for the Mrs. World Inc., there's a rule that you'll have to be married, and not divorced,” Jurie said. “So, I'm taking my first step saying that the crown goes to the first runner-up."

She then had the audacity to remove the crown off De Silva’s head and put it on the runner-up.

Following the abrupt crown swap, De Silva spoke out in a Facebook post clarifying that she is separated and not divorced. She also described the physical and mental pain she has suffered due to the incident.

“The pain of my skull when my crown was snatched from my head by the world married beauty queen,” De Silva wrote. “The pain I felt when I lost the crown is more than both”

Despite Jurie’s presumptuous actions, pageant officials released a statement confirming that De Silva will retain the title and the crown.

"We are deeply disturbed and sincerely regret the behavior of our current title holder, Mrs. Caroline Jurie, Mrs. World 2020, at the crowning," a the pageant wrote in a  press release posted to the Mrs. Sri Lanka World Facebook page.

"Her actions goes against the Mrs. Sri Lanka code of conduct and predetermined regulations she is obliged to follow during her reign. We will review the aforementioned incident and we'll be taking steps as deemed appropriate based on the outcome of our assessment."

In comparison, it now appears Steve Harvey got off pretty easy for naming the wrong winner at the 2015 Miss Universe pageant.
