
SWANSEA, IL (KMOX) - Multiple fire departments were called out early Saturday morning to battle a blaze at a Swansea, Illinois restaurant.
A portion of the Outback Steakhouse on North Illinois Street was badly damaged in the fire.
According to a Facebook post by the Swansea Fire Department, the building was showing "heavy fire" when firefighters arrived. They were aided by crews from the East Side Volunteer Fire Department, Fairview Caseyville Township Fire Protection District, O'Fallon Fire Rescue, Northwest St. Clair Fire Protection District and the Belleville Fire Department.
The fire was extinguished about 5 am Saturday morning, a couple of hours after crews were called.
State fire officials are joining the investigation.
