A coffee shop in Dallas has one very important goal: give formerly incarcerated moms a second chance.

Well Grounded Coffee Community is a faith-based establishment that opened its doors on Monday.

Natasha Weir and Maricela Espinosa are the two first baristas to be hired.

“It allows them to take a giant step away from their past that could potentially be, for a lot of people who are needing second chances, a ball and chain," Michael Huscheck, the husband of co-founder Natalie Huscheck, told NBC DFW.

"We’re looking to cut that off of them. I think this is going to set them free,” he added.

His wife agreed, noting: "Certainly their lives are being transformed. Our lives are being transformed by the process."

Natalie says that while they’re starting with two employees for now, even the “ladies are praying and hoping for the next hire and to help more women like they have already been helped." They hope to hire more women in January.

The couple believes their baristas will serve as an inspiration to other women who “could use a second chance.”

The shop plans to have a grand opening on Monday, December 28.
