A trailer for the doc shows that Gabby's parents and stepparents are part of the production, providing in-depth interviews and "exclusive photos and details" about the case. According to NBC, it's their first documentary interview.

The film will shed “new light on the tragic story, the unanswered questions and the shocking conclusion,” according to a synopsis provided by NBC.

The trailer shows that the doc will also focus on the part that the case's massive social media attention played.

Petito met Brian Laundrie at Bayport-Blue Point High School and were engaged when they went on a “van life” cross-country trip this year.

Petito was reported missing in early September, and it came to light that the two were stopped by police in Utah in August over a domestic dispute between them was witnessed by another person.

Laundrie had returned home to North Port, Florida without Petito, and soon after went missing himself after telling his parents he was going for a walk.

Petito’s body was found in Bridger–Teton National Forest on Sept. 19. An autopsy found that she died in a homicide by strangulation.

Laundrie’s remains were found in a Florida reserve nearly a month later. An anthropologist determined that Laundrie died by a self-inflicted gunshot wound.
