Following the damage from Hurricane Ida, some Louisiana residents were given a surprise when a dolphin was seen stuck between a levee and pump station near the intersection of Pontchartrain Drive and Oak Harbor Boulevard.
One family pulled over to get a closer look, surprised to see the animal.

"How could they get a dolphin in this part of this area? How could they get a dolphin in Louisiana," Matthias Burey said to WWL-TV.

Not a member of the Burey's was left without a smile from ear to ear as Anthea shared that seeing the dolphin brought joy after several harrowing days.
"From this morning, everyone's been looking and taking pictures and stuff like that, and I was curious," said Anthea Burey.
"After all this, this is something amazing."
However, some were worried about the creature and its safety.
"For me, it's not funny to see dolphins suffering like that. I can't do anything. I can do nothing," Mario Molina shared with the station.

Since the creature was spotted, Molina has been watching the dolphin making sure it is okay.
"There's a lot of people that are watching, and I didn't see anybody trying to help him," said Molina.
Now, Molina is working to make sure that creature makes it back home safely.
"I would like to see somebody help," said Molina.
The St. Tammany Parish Sheriff's office released a video of a group working to collect the dolphin to get it back to its natural habitat safely.
