A new poll has found strong, bipartisan support for President Biden's American Jobs Plan, as the President addressed Congress for the first time Wednesday night.
The national poll by Data for Progress showed a majority of Americans want clean, green energy jobs to be part of the infrastructure package worth more than $2 trillion.
The poll also found 70 percent of likely voters support building renewable energy projects, like wind and solar. Jim in San Leandro said he likes the idea of creating jobs and expanding renewables.
“Science tells me that the environment is getting warmer,” Jim said. “And so wherever we can use the sun, wherever we can go environmentally friendly or pro-environment, I think there’s going to be jobs there.”
The poll found a majority of Democrats, Independents and Republicans supported many of the clean energy proposals that are part of the American Jobs Plan.
“Some of the most popular proposals included modernizing the electricity grid and improving grid resiliency, investing in the research and development of new energy technologies and building new renewable energy projects,” said Danielle Deiseroth, a senior climate data analyst.
Out of the more than 1,000 voters surveyed, a majority showed stronger support for traditional infrastructure improvements, as 87 percent of people wanted to see investments in crumbling roads and bridges.
