A man made a shocking discovery while staying at a vacation rental.
Robertibus, who posts under Rob, noticed a mysterious hatch in the living room floor of his Airbnb.
He decided to explore it and share his findings on TikTok.
“So we've come away for a little weekend retreat in this lovely little cottage in the lakes, but I can't help but notice, where does this go?,” he said in the clip, pointing to the oddly placed door.
In footage that looks like it's taken straight from a horror movie, Rob moved the couch, opened the latch, and pulled up the wooden door to reveal a set of eerie basement stairs.
"Well, sofa moved, so, guess it's time for an adventure. This is not creepy in the slightest. Some old school handle going on here. Right, give it a go. What is this. Oh my days. Just under the living room, that's terrifying. I'm scared too. What the heck?" he continued.
While most people would do a U-turn at this point, Rob’s curiosity got the best of him, so he turned on a light and decided to make his way down the stairs to check out what’s lurking in the shadows.
As he descended down a few steps, he came upon a body of water.
And not just any green water -- the lime green color was almost luminescent.
"Lights on, time to go. This is terrifying. What the flip? Oh my gosh, it's water. What the heck, it's quite deep and very green,” he can be heard saying.
The room itself was equally as terrifying as it was made out of bricks and had cobwebs hanging from the ceiling.
He noticed something in the middle under the murky water and questioned “what creepy a** thing is living in here,” before quickly deducing that it was a drain.
“Turns out we've booked the holiday home of a swamp monster,” he quipped about the cottage near Lake Coniston Water in England that he rented with his partner, Nat, their baby, and the dog, who can be seen assisting his owner in the video, per Newsweek.
People found the “secret” basement and the potentially green creature lurking beneath equally as creepy.
"The Chamber of Secrets has been opened!" one TikTok user wrote.
Another noted its “ectoplasm” from “Ghost Busters.”
A third questioned whether the listing included a pool.
However, Rob provided some clarity about the mystifying basement in a follow-up video.
"The super creepy basement filled with green water. So it turns out this is probably a staining solution or something. It's a basement which leaks so they put some weird dye in it to figure out where the water is coming from” he noted.
While he deemed the “case closed,” the lakehouse saga continued when Rob said the remote, which his family couldn’t find the night before, mysteriously showed up the next morning.
“Where did this remote come from? Just sitting here, not in between,” he said referring to the remote lying on top of the coach and not wedged between the cushions.
Maybe Hugo the swamp monster (as Rob named him) did his new buddy a solid by helping him find the remote?
