Google is not just a handy search engine when you're looking for the answers to your burning questions: data from the tech giant can also be compiled to find patterns among the general populace.
That's often the case around any holiday, when search information is used to determine each state's favorite part of the holiday. The latest comes in the form of a fun use of Google Trends that shows each state's favorite Christmas cookie.
As always, there are plenty of surprises.
According to USA Today, notable holiday habits on the map included Washington, that picked vegan Christmas cookies; Maine and Wisconsin searched for gluten-free Christmas cookies; and for Texas, the top cookie wasn't a cookie at all, it was Christmas cookie ice cream.
Google Trends curator Annanya Raghavan noted that "the East coast seemed to favor the internationally inspired cookies in Search, while the South seemed to be searching for Christmas flavored treats, and the Midwest was searching for Christmas cookies with alternative ingredients."
Even when it comes to Christmas cookies, every state has their own taste.
