He's not even a candidate for the office, but a new poll shows that native Texan and actor Matthew McConaughey has more support than Texas Governor Abbott in the race for governor.
A local newspaper and University of Texas at Tyler poll indicates registered voters in Texas prefer McConaughey at 45% to Governor Abbott at 33%.
The poll was conducted April 6th through the 13th and surveyed over 1,100 registered voters.

McConaughey has not announced he's running for any political office and has only said he would not rule it out.
Political experts say the actor enjoys tremendous name recognition and say the double digit lead over the two-term Republican incumbent is significant.
