PHILADELPHIA (KYW Newsradio) — Valentine’s Day — or for many, the weekend before Valentine’s Day — is a great opportunity to enjoy a treat that many consider off-limits the rest of the year.
There have been dozens of studies that have been done over the years touting the health-protective effects of chocolate.
However, there is a catch. Most studies apply to dark chocolate only and the portion size — which is very small.
The official recommendation is about six small pieces or two large pieces broken off of a typical bar. If you eat more than that amount, the benefits are thwarted by an increase in saturated fat.
