PHILADELPHIA (KYW Newsradio) — As we look at COVID-19 statistics in the United States, it is becoming quite clear that the virus had a different impact on different parts of the country.

The impact of COVID-19 was influenced by weather, urban versus rural communities, access to care, and acceptance of vaccines.

The rates of vaccinations and boosters are easy to study. One of the earliest reports compared Florida and California. While both states had a similar number of cases, deaths were significantly higher in Florida where the booster rate was substantially less.

There are also extremely positive reports, including a growing number that are analyzing the use of telemedicine to reach those in rural areas or without easy access to care. Learning should never stop.
