61-Year-Old NBC News Employee Dies After Testing Positive for Coronavirus

A longtime NBC News employee passed away on Thursday after testing positive for coronavirus.

An audio technician in the equipment room at NBC News' 30 Rockefeller Plaza headquarters in New York, Larry Edgeworth also suffered from other health issues, according to his wife, Crystal.

NBC News Chairman Andy Lack notified staff members of Edgeworth’s death in a Friday morning email, NBC reports.

"As we have heard from medical professionals, those with underlying health concerns are sadly the most vulnerable," Lack wrote Friday morning.

Edgeworth was employed for 25 years by the broadcasting company, where he was well-known to many network correspondents who traveled with him around the world.

Edgeworth was 61 years old, MSNBC reports.

"Many of you were fortunate enough to work with Larry over the years, so you know that he was the guy you wanted by your side no matter where you were," Lack wrote in his email.

Edgeworth is survived by his wife and two sons.
