Controversial publisher Larry Flynt has died at the age of 78.
Flynt died in Los Angeles Wednesday morning, according to TMZ. Family sources confirmed the death to the outlet and noted the cause was due to heart failure.
The Washington Post subsequently received confirmation of Flynt's death by his brother Jimmy Flynt.
Flynt founded Hustler magazine in the 1970s.
He is also well-known for his portrayal by actor Woody Harrelson in the 1996 movie "The People v. Larry Flynt," a biographical look at Flynt's life.
