Starbucks baristas are facing extra workloads after a new viral TikTok trend has made filling customer orders more challenging.
The Seattle-based coffee chain has received an increasing amount of complex and overly-specific drink orders that aren’t even on the menu, Fox Business reports.
A tweet from one barista shows a drink order from a customer named “Edward” with over a dozen instructions, including extra ice, extra whipped cream, 7 extra pumps of caramel sauce and extra caramel crunch.
The actual culprit behind the recent increase in elaborate drink orders is a new wave of TikTok users getting in on the latest trend of ordering complicated customized drinks that are difficult to make.

Some of these creations have been named the “TikTok Drink” and the “PB and J,” according to NYC-based Starbucks barista Marcelle LaBrecque, the outlet reports.
She says the new trend as caused “quite a backup in our production and ability to bring out orders within a timely and effective manner.”
"Our ability to remain a thriving business during the revival of a once-dead economy is affecting our sales and customer experience, which is something I, as a barista, pride myself in," LaBrecque added.
Bianca Ruiz, a Los Angeles-based Starbucks barista, told USA Today that she doesn't mind fulfilling the elaborate orders as long as customers are patient about waiting on the longer lines.

Despite the viral trend, Starbucks has said most of their custom drinks orders remain reasonable.
"Customizing beverages at Starbucks and our baristas’ expertise in helping customers find and craft the right beverage has and always will be at the heart of the Starbucks Experience," a Starbucks spokesperson told Fox News.
"There are many ways for customers to modify their favorite beverage and most customizations are reasonable requests from customers."
TikTok or not, you can never go wrong with a simple and classic Grande Vanilla Latte.
