Thousands of volunteers gathered on the Intrepid in NYC for a very special reason.
The New Yorkers, some from companies like Citi and others just locals, helped pack meals for the homeless to commemorate the terrorist attacks on Sept. 11th, 2001.
The day of remembrance, now known as #911Day, was created to help turn "a day of tragedy into a day of doing good," according to the '9/11 Day' organization.
In total, volunteers will pack over 850,000 meals, 10% of which will be used for hurricane relief on the Eastern seaboard.
