The U.S. recorded more than 100,000 new COVID-19 cases in a day for the first time on Wednesday, according to a report.
A total of 104,004 cases were logged on Wednesday, the Washington Post reported.
Seven states, meanwhile, reported record-high COVID-19 hospitalization numbers, according to the outlet.
“It’s clear we’re heading into a period where we’re going to see increasing hospitalization and deaths in the U.S.,” Tom Frieden, who served as director of the Centers for Disease Control under the Obama administration, told the outlet.
“We know by now how fast this virus can move,” he added. “You have to get ahead of it.”
