The Houston Astros have a mid-inning game in which they pick a young fan to “steal” a base along the right field line.

Well, one fan decided he wanted the real thing.

During Tuesday’s game against the New York Mets, a 6-year-old fan named Oliver was chosen to participate in the game, but instead of running toward the dummy base they had for him in right field he darted toward second base in an attempt to swipe the bag on the actual field.

When Oliver arrived at second base he could not lift the bag from the ground, drawing the attention of Astros infielders Jose Altuve and Mauricio Dubòn who tried to help him.

Neither of them could lift the base (or at least pretended to) so they pointed toward the one in right field that Oliver was originally supposed to “steal.”

The young fan bolted across the outfield to the applause of the fans at Minute Maid Park, high-fiving them along the outfield after completing the task.

Of course, Oliver began making his way toward center field instead of leaving the field before two members of the Shooting Stars guided him in the right direction.

That’s certainly a memory he will not forget.
