There's news on Aaron Rodgers' future, but it doesn't pertain to the Green Bay Packers.

As the NFL world waits on Rodgers to decide whether he'll return to the Packers for an 18th season, In Touch reports that the 10-time Pro Bowler and actress Shailene Woodley have not only ended their engagement, but broken up as a couple:

“While Shailene is supportive of Aaron’s career, he put football first and they were barely spending any time together,” says one insider. “She felt he neglected their relationship. Neither of them was happy.”

The report goes on to say that Rodgers "got cold feet," but it does add that the split was "amicable." The couple had gotten engaged in 2020.

Rodgers just won his second consecutive NFL MVP Award, and fourth overall -- putting him in sole possession of the second most wins of the award in NFL history. Only Peyton Manning, who won five NFL MVPs, has more.

Still, it was hardly smooth sailing for the 38-year-old in 2021.

Rodgers waited until the final weekend before training camp to decide if he was going to play for the Packers in 2021, still upset by, among other things, the team's decision to trade up in the first round of the 2020 NFL Draft and select Jordan Love, his likely successor.

The four-time All-Pro also drew heavy criticism throughout the 2021 season for being outspoken in his skepticism of COVID-19 vaccines, and how both the NFL and country continue to try to mitigate the damage from the pandemic.

After going 13-4 and securing a first-round bye in the NFC playoffs, the Packers were upset by the San Francisco 49ers in the Divisional Round, a loss that some have argued is the worst of Rodgers' illustrious career.

Still, ESPN's Adam Schefter reported last weekend that the Packers "are prepared to go all-in" on Rodgers for 2022, assuming he is interested in returning to the team.

If his breakup from Woodley, 30, tells us anything, it's that Rodgers probably isn't ready to walk away from playing just yet.
