Anthony Edwards wants future new boss A-Rod back with J.Lo: 'I want him to be happy'

It did not take long for Anthony Edwards to go from not knowing who Alex Rodriguez is to becoming his biggest supporter.

The Minnesota Timberwolves rookie recently conducted an interview with GQ where he talked about pretty much everything, and was asked about his viral clip where he admitted he had no clue who Rodriguez, who is part of the new ownership group buying the team, was.

Edwards now knows a little bit more about his new future boss, although he still has not watched his baseball highlights.

“I ain’t watch none, nah. I know he date J.Lo, though,” he said.

Well, used to date. Edwards was informed during the interview that the celebrity couple recently split up, which led Edwards campaigning for A-Rod and Jennifer Lopez to get back together.

Damn!” he said. “He gonna be my owner, I want him to be happy.”

When asked if he thought Rodriguez would be happier with Lopez, Edwards replied, “Yeah!”

The 19-year-old also spoke about how his phone began blowing up after his comment that he didn’t know who A-Rod was.

“Everybody was texting me, tellin’ me ‘bout it,” he said. “…They told me he’s a Hall of Famer. Somebody told me he’s like the Michael Jordan of baseball.”

Well, that might be a little much. While Rodriguez had a great career, it was clouded with controversy, most notably being linked to performance-enhancing drugs on two separate occasions.

Edwards is not much of a baseball fan (although he says he played and can throw 92 mph and even hit 100 if you give him time to get his arm right) but the Georgia native is aware of some of the legendary Black players like Hank Aaron and Jackie Robinson as well as some Atlanta Braves greats like Chipper Jones and current slugger Freddie Freeman.

He also knows “Big Papi,” but seemed to think he played for the Braves, and one other player which makes not knowing A-Rod even more preposterous.

“Who else I know…Oh! Derek Jeter? Yeah! That’s my favorite player,” he said.

We’ll see if that holds up after he does some more research on his new owner.
