Antonio Brown brought more than just his helmet and pads with him to a tryout with the New Orleans Saints on Friday.
According to Mike Garafolo of the NFL Network, the free agent wide receiver had a camera crew and entourage accompanying him when he arrived for his workout.
“That’s what Antonio Brown showed up with yesterday,” Garafolo said on Good Morning Football. “That’s what I was told — referred to by a Saints source as ‘the whole bleep show’ showed up with Antonio Brown.”
The controversial 31-year-old receiver was one of six players the Saints brought in for a workout on Friday, but New Orleans ultimately did not sign Brown, at least not now.
“We’re doing our homework,” head coach Sean Payton told reporters on Friday. “I think part of that is credibility we’ve already established. There’s been a number of players that we’ve signed or drafted in years past. Some worked out, some haven’t.
“I had never met [Brown] before, so I had the opportunity to sit down and talk to him, just like I did with the other five players.”
Brown has been without a team since the Patriots cut him before Week 3 following allegations of sexual assault and misconduct. The NFL is investigating those allegations and Brown could be subjected to being placed on the commissioner’s exempt list for any team who signs him.
In addition to serious allegations made against Brown, he has been a loose cannon on social media, posting rants defending himself and going after former teammates and even Patriots owner Robert Kraft, whom he eventually apologized to, via Twitter.
