The Jets drafted Zach Wilson with the second overall pick in the 2021 NFL Draft and he may only last two seasons in New York. The quarterback has struggled and ruffled some feathers in his second season.

Wilson has had a wild ride this season. He missed the first three games with an injury, started the next seven, but was then demoted to third-string for three weeks. Then, injuries forced him back into the starting role where he struggled again.

The young quarterback has gone back and forth this season and he may have a new home next season.

NFL Insider Brian Baldinger of the Audacy Original Podcast “In The Huddle” talked about the Jets’ quarterback situation and the future of Wilson.

“The quarterback play has just been awful, just awful, no matter who they’ve had in there over the last month, five weeks now,” Baldinger said (24:27 in player above). “They got to figure out that position.”

Four different quarterbacks have played this season for the Jets. Zach Wilson leads the way with nine games, White and Joe Flacco have each played in four, and Chris Streveler struggled through two.

White was expected to start in Week 18 but he’s out despite wanting to play through five broken ribs. It'll be Flacco, not Wilson, to start Sunday's season finale.

Wilson was supposed to be the answer in New York but now it seems like there’s little-to-no chance of that happening.

“Zach Wilson, I don’t think will be a Jet next year. I just don’t believe that. I think his time has come and gone,” Baldinger said.
