PITTSBURGH (93.7 The Fan) -- Pittsburgh Steelers quarterback Ben Roethlisberger said reports of a practice "fight" last week with star wide receiver Antonio Brown have been overstated.
Brown got into a verbal altercation with Roethlisberger and threw a football in the quarterback's direction during a walk-through practice last Wednesday morning, according to the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette. Brown was listed as non-participant in practice later that day due to a "coaches decision."
Roethlisberger said he talked to Brown on Thursday morning and he felt that everything was fine.
"That's what baffling to me, people are making a big deal about a walk-through on Wednesday, a fight between he and I," Roethlisberger told Ron Cook on Tuesday on the "Ben Roethlisberger Show."
"If there was a blow-up or something, I sure as heck didn't see it. I'm not sure where that comes from."
Brown made the decision not to practice the rest of the week, the Post-Gazette reported. Steelers coach Mike Tomlin said Friday that Brown was kept out due to a knee injury, which had been added to the injury report on Thursday.
According to numerous reports, Brown skipped Saturday's mandatory team walkthrough and then left Heinz Field at halftime of Sunday's 16-13 win over the Cincinnati Bengals.
Roethlisberger mentioned that his teammates have reached out to Brown and haven't heard back yet.
"I know guys are frustrated," Roethlisberger said. "Some of the guys have reached out to him and haven't heard back, and that's what is frustrating to a lot of the guys."
Roethlisberger is entering his contract year in 2019. He discussed what will go in to the decision of how long he will continue to play, while saying he will let the contract process play out. Roethlisberger also said he believes the window for the Steelers to make a Super Bowl run is not closing any time soon.
"I've got another year on my deal," Roethlisberger said. "As long as they'll have me I will be back. It's all the lineman up front and it's just so much fun to play with them."
