Astros vs. Dodgers
Friday’s MLB schedule features an inter-league matchup between the Houston Astros and the Los Angeles Dodgers. Normally, this would be a heavyweight matchup, although both teams are scuffling right now, so this is a game both teams need. After losing five in a row, Houston managed to win back-to-back games against the Mets earlier this week. They will now look to J.P. France to keep it going. Over the first eight starts of his career, France is 2-2 with a 3.42 ERA. But he’ll face the toughest test of his young career against a lineup that features the likes of Freddie Freeman and Mookie Betts, even if the Dodgers have scored just seven total runs in their last four games. Meanwhile, injuries to the Los Angeles rotation will force Emmett Sheehan to make his second career start. The 23-year-old threw six hitless innings against the Giants in his debut last week and appears to be another diamond in the LA farm system. Even after a 10-run output on Wednesday, it remains to be seen if Houston’s lineup is back on track. If Sheehan can deliver again and the Dodgers can wake up offensively, they should be able to score a much-needed home win on Friday night.
