Dodgers vs Rangers
Two of MLB’s division leaders begin a weekend series on Friday night when the Los Angeles Dodgers visit the Texas Rangers. The Rangers have come back from the all-star break red-hot and head into the weekend on a six-game winning streak. However, the Dodgers have won four of six since the break and eight of their last 10 games overall. They will also have Tony Gonsolin on the mound against Texas on Friday. Gonsolin was sharp in his first start after the break after a string of four straight subpar starts, helping to lower his ERA to 3.72. But he’ll face a Texas lineup averaging 5.5 runs per game over the last six games. On the other side, the Dodgers will face lefty Andrew Heaney, who spent the 2022 season in Los Angeles. Heaney has been inconsistent this year with a 4.43 ERA, although he’s pitched at least five scoreless innings in two of his last three starts. However, Heaney will be facing a dynamic LA lineup that’s scored at least five runs in five of the team’s six games since the break. With Gonsolin being backed by a potent lineup that’s had a good run lately, the Dodgers look poised to open this weekend’s series with a road win on Friday night.
