Cubs vs Rangers
With baseball season underway, there are a lot of eyes on the defending champion Rangers. Texas scored a 4-3 win in 10 innings on Thursday over the Cubs and will be looking to go to 2-0 on the young season against the Cubbies on Saturday night. Young lefty Cody Bradford will get the ball for Texas. He’s something of a mystery, posting a 5.30 ERA last year in eight starts and 12 relief appearances, but the Rangers are high on him.
On the other side, the Cubs are sending Kyle Hendricks to the mound. He’s a pitcher who needs no introduction. The 34-year-old is still going strong after pitching to a 3.74 ERA last season. Most of the Texas lineup has limited at-bats against Hendricks outside of Corey Seager, who is 0 for 11 against him. That is likely to sway things in Chicago’s favor, especially since the Cubs can load up on right-handed hitters to face Bradford and give him trouble. Look for the Cubs to earn their first win of 2024 on Saturday night.
