Orioles vs Royals
The highlight of Saturday’s MLB schedule might be the game between the Baltimore Orioles and the Kansas City Royals. A couple of years ago, both of these teams were among the worst teams in baseball, and now they are among the best teams in the American League. On top of that, the Orioles have a former Cy Young winner on the mound on Saturday with Corbin Burnes getting the start. Burnes has been as advertised for Baltimore, going 2-0 with a 2.28 ERA in his first four starts with the Orioles winning all four games. The only caveat is that he scattered nine hits over 5.2 innings when he faced the Royals earlier this month.
Somehow, Kansas City’s Cole Ragans has been even better, as he looks to out-duel Burnes on Saturday. The young lefty has pitched to a 1.93 ERA over his first four starts of 2024. That includes 6.1 scoreless innings against the Orioles on April 3. In that game, Ragans allowed just one hit and two walks while striking out seven, completely dominating the Baltimore lineup before the Kansas City bullpen failed to hold the lead. Given Kansas City’s success at home this year and the way Ragans handled the Orioles earlier this month, look for the Royals to get the better of Burnes and the Orioles on Saturday night.
