Pelicans vs Mavericks
Two of the best teams in the Western Conference collide on Saturday night when the Dallas Mavericks host the New Orleans Pelicans. Dallas is arguably the hottest team in the NBA right now and has been particularly tough to beat at home this season. Luka Doncic is putting up ridiculous numbers, even for him, averaging over 34 points and nearly nine rebounds and nine assists per game. However, the Maps have been surprisingly bad against the spread this season, going 13-22-3 ATS. On the other hand, the Pelicans have a winning record ATS and had two separate winning streaks of at least five games in December. The caveat is that they are just 7-10 on the road this season. Plus, with Zion Williamson and Brandon Ingram both sidelined by injury, the Mavericks should have an easier time taking care of business and covering the spread at home against New Orleans. Kentucky vs No. 7 Alabama
A showdown in the SEC helps to highlight the college basketball weekend with the Kentucky Wildcats visiting the no. 7 Alabama Crimson Tide. John Calipari’s team is outside the top 25 at the moment, although the Wildcats have responded to a disappointing loss to Missouri with back-to-back wins over Louisville and LSU. National Player of the Year candidate Oscar Tshiebwe continues to be a double-double machine while freshman guard Cason Wallace is starting to come into his own over Kentucky’s last few games. Of course, the Crimson Tide is 12-2 and already has two wins over teams that were ranked no. 1 at the time. Alabama’s success is coming with freshman forward Brandon Miller leading the way. He’s averaging 21.2 points per game over his last five games and might be able to mitigate Tshiebwe’s usual dominance and help keep Alabama perfect in SEC play.
