Celtics vs 76ers

The first Saturday night after the All-Star Game is highlighted by an Eastern Conference showdown between the Boston Celtics and the Philadelphia 76ers. Both teams are in the running for the top seed in the conference, although Philadelphia has some ground to make up. The 76ers won six of their last eight games heading into the all-star break and are hoping to keep it going. They are getting 33 points per game from Joel Embiid while also getting plenty of scoring and play-making from James Harden. Despite losing their first two games against the Celtics this season, the 76ers are one of the best home teams in the NBA this year and one of the best in the league against the spread. Of course, the Celtics won seven of nine heading into the break and have the best road record in the NBA. The tandem of Jayson Tatum and Jaylen Brown is averaging more than 57 points per game, giving Boston a chance to win every night. No. 8 Texas vs No. 9 Baylor

The Big 12 offers another top-10 matchup this weekend when the no. 9 Baylor Bears host the no. 8 Texas Longhorns. Texas beat Baylor in Austin 76-71 earlier this season, and now the Bears need to return the favor in order to avoid a three-game losing streak. In fairness, Baylor’s last two losses have come on the road against ranked teams, although both were 10-point losses. On the bright side, Baylor has won six straight home games, covering the spread in all but one of those wins. Meanwhile, Texas is fresh off an impressive 72-54 win over a ranked Iowa State team earlier this week. However, the Longhorns have struggled when going on the road this season, losing three of their last four road games, including a disappointing loss at the hands of Texas Tech. In fact, Texas if 4-3 straight-up and 3-4 against the spread in Big 12 road games. They are also 12-16 ATS overall this season, so they could be vulnerable against a desperate Baylor team on Saturday.
