Thunder vs Timberwolves
There is a heavyweight matchup in the NBA on Saturday night when the Oklahoma City Thunder visit the Minnesota Timberwolves. These are two of the four teams fighting for supremacy at the top of the Western Conference hierarchy right now. Despite stumbling on the road against the Mavericks and Celtics, the T-Wolves have been one of the best teams in the NBA over the last couple of weeks. They currently have the second-best record in the NBA and have just two losses at home all season.
Meanwhile, the Thunder has struggled on its current road trip and has played poorly on the road throughout January. Nevertheless, Oklahoma City is neck and neck with the 76ers for the NBA’s best record against the spread. That being said, the Thunder has been rather ordinary on the road this season. They haven’t been at their best lately while the T’Wolves have been on a roll lately. Look for Minnesota to win and cover a small spread in a competitive game Saturday night.

Alabama vs No. 6 Tennessee
The best game of the weekend in college basketball might be a matinee in the SEC between the No. 6 Tennessee Volunteers and the Alabama Crimson Tide. The Tide is trying to prove that it deserves to be ranked. Alabama struggled against power-conference opponents early in the season. But since a three-game losing streak against Purdue, Creighton, and Arizona, the Crimson Tide has rattled off six straight wins, going 5-1 against the spread. But it still remains to be seen if Alabama can topple a top-10 team.
The Vols also struggled against quality opponents early in the season, losing three in a row against Purdue, Kansas, and North Carolina in late November. But since that losing streak, Tennessee has won nine of 10 games, including victories over Illinois, NC State, and Ole Miss. The Vols are also fresh off a blowout win over Florida, although they’ve often failed to cover the spread, going 7-7 against the spread as a favorite this season. Being at home, Tennessee should be able to hold off Alabama, although the Crimson Tide has looked good enough lately to at least beat the spread and make this a close game.
