Lions vs Giants (-3)
What do the Giants need to do to get some respect from oddsmakers? They are 7-2 SU and 7-2 ATS this season, and yet they are only favored by three points against the Lions in Week 11. To be fair, the Lions have won back-to-back games and always show plenty of fight for head coach Dan Campbell. However, the Detroit defense has also sputtered when facing quality defensive teams. The Giants currently have a top-10 defense that’s yielding just 19.2 points per game over their first nine games. In road losses to the Patriots and Cowboys, the Lions scored a total of six points, so hitting the road against a strong defense is where Detroit has struggled the most. Meanwhile, the Giants covered the spread last week against the Texans with New York’s last five wins all coming by at least four points. With the Lions giving up the most points in the NFL this season, the Detroit offense may not have enough success against the New York defense to keep this game within a field goal. Tennessee vs South Carolina (+21.5)
The Tennessee Volunteers are still hoping to sneak into the College Football Playoff with just one loss. But they must know they have no margin for error, even as a 21.5-point favorite at South Carolina this week. The Gamecocks are coming off a 32-point shellacking against Florida but should be excited to put forth a better performance on Senior Day. Before giving up 38 points last week, the Gamecocks had given up just 22 points per game in their last four games. They’ve been strong defensively for most of the year and shouldn’t allow Tennessee to push them around. Perhaps more importantly, the Tennessee defense hasn’t always put its foot down. Five of the seven power-conference teams the Volunteers have played have scored at least 24 points. With Spencer Rattler, the Gamecocks have an experienced quarterback who can find some of the holes in the Tennessee defense and at least get South Carolina to 24 points, allowing the Gamecocks to beat the spread and keep this game competitive. Raptors vs Hawks
Two teams fighting for position in the Eastern Conference hierarchy will clash on Saturday night when the Atlanta Hawks host the Toronto Raptors. These teams met on Halloween in Toronto with the Raptors running away with a 139-109 win despite only being favored by two points. However, the road has not been kind to the Raptors, who are just 3-6 SU away from home. Toronto has also lost four straight road games ATS while going 1-5 ATS over the team’s last six games. Big men Pascal Siakam and Precious Achiuwa are also absent with injuries at the moment, hurting the Raptors in the paint. Meanwhile, the Hawks are coming off a loss against the Celtics on Wednesday, although they are 4-1 SU coming off a loss this season. Atlanta’s roster is also close to full strength, especially with Trae Young averaging close to a double-double per game at 26.9 points and 9.3 assists per game, giving the Hawks a chance to avenge last month’s loss to the Raptors when Young had an uncharacteristic 10 turnovers. Keep in mind Toronto won't have Siakam, who had 31 points and 12 rebounds in that game. You can get the latest betting lines and NBA expert picks at BetQL.
Kentucky vs Gonzaga
A pair of top-5 college basketball teams will square off on Sunday when the no. 4 Kentucky Wildcats make a trip to the Pacific Northwest to face the no. 2 Gonzaga Bulldogs on their home turf. As usual, Mark Few’s Bulldogs have challenged themselves early in the season. But after a comeback win over Michigan State on an aircraft carrier, the Bulldogs were dominated by Texas on Wednesday in a 93-74 loss. Drew Timme has had no problem scoring early in the season, although the Bulldogs have been plagued by 38 turnovers over their games with Michigan State and Texas. That could be problematic against Kentucky’s notoriously fierce and high-pressure defensive style. The Wildcats also have Oscar Tshiebwe to battle Timme in the paint and a surprisingly experienced team with Tshiebwe, Sahvir Wheeler, and transfers Antonio Reeves and CJ Fredrick. That could make the Wildcats an excellent bet on Sunday, even as the road team. To get college basketball betting picks and advanced stats for every college basketball game, check out BetQL.
