Atlanta Braves outfielder Travis Demeritte certainly gave one fan a moment to remember.

Demeritte hit his first home run of the season (and first since 2019) in the fifth inning of Tuesday’s game against the Chicago Cubs to give the Braves a 2-1 lead, but there was a bit of a backstory to the home run.

Demeritte was seen chatting with a fan while he was on-deck to hit and following the home run he came back over and gave that fan a high-five.

According to a Bally Sports report, the fan had asked Demeritte to hit a home run and he delivered.

Demeritte, who last homered in August of 2019 with the Detroit Tigers, apparently said he’d try his best, but the woman told him “don’t try your best, just do it.”

Clearly, it was just the motivation he needed as he launched an opposite field shot over the right field wall.

Demeritte has actually looked good at the plate since he was called up to replace Austin Riley, who was placed on the IL last week. In seven at-bats, Demeritte has three hits — including a home run and double — and has scored twice.
