The Browns’ receiving core just got more formidable.

Cleveland on Saturday acquired wideout Jerry Jeudy in a trade with the Denver Broncos, according to multiple reports. NFL Media’s Ian Rapoport reported that the Browns will send Denver a fifth- and sixth-round pick in exchange for Jeudy.

A split between Jeudy and the Broncos seemed inevitable. The 2020 first-round pick didn’t hide from his frustration about his use in Denver’s offense, which has sputtered in recent years. The Broncos’ release of Russell Wilson was the first indication they were ready to go back to the drawing board, and splitting with Jeudy was a logical next step.

The Browns are landing a 24-year-old with plenty of time to reach his ceiling. He was an electric receiver at Alabama, but has yet to fulfill his potential in the NFL. Still, he’s only one season removed from catching 67 passes for a career high 972 yards and six touchdowns in 2022.

A major prove-it year is forthcoming for Deshaun Watson, and now he’ll have Jeudy in addition to Amari Cooper and Nick Chubb at his disposal.
