The Washington Redskins appear poised to select Ohio State defensive end Chase Young with the No. 2 pick in the NFL Draft on Thursday night.

If that is indeed what the Redskins do, and reports indicate they are not willing to trade out of the pick, Young would be returning to his home state of Maryland to begin his NFL career.

The Ohio State pass rusher appeared on WFAN’s “Boomer and Gio” on Thursday morning and admitted there are pros and cons of returning home to play professionally.

“When you come back home a lot of people love you, some who hate you and some who show you fake love,” he said. “I love my big bros around the league. Help me get prepared and … when you get drafted regardless you have to worry about those things. Just trying to stay locked in on everything.”

Young, who played at DeMatha Catholic High School in Hyattsville, Maryland, said that he did not grow up a Redskins fan — or any team — but said he has some family and friends hoping the team selects him.

He also acknowledged that he had a good conversation with Washington’s new head coach, Ron Rivera, leading up to the draft.

“I had a conversation with Coach Rivera, it might have been about last week,” he said. “We just talked about me and my family. Not even football too much, just about what I have going on in my life and my family.”

Of course, Young should be able to fit right into the Redskins’ 4-3 defensive scheme.

“It’s what I played in college,” Young said. “Definitely one of the easier things to adjust to at the next level.”
