Dak Prescott is brimming with confidence about the upcoming season.

After going 6-10 last season, with Prescott sidelined from Week 5 on due to an ankle fracture, the newly minted $160 million quarterback believes the 2021 team will look a lot different.

“We’re just excited,” Prescott told Newy Scruggs of NBC DFW. “We’re excited that hopefully we can stay healthy; we can get good fortune on that end. Then, we can just put everything we’ve worked hard for together on all stages and all phases of the game. We’re excited for this year. It’s going to be very, very special for us and for Cowboys fans.”

The Cowboys’ injury woes extended beyond Prescott last year. The offensive line was completely decimated with Zack Martin, La’el Collins and Tyron Smith missing a combined 36 games while linebackers Sean Lee (who has since retired) and Leighton Vander Esch missed a combined 13 games.

Dallas also boasted one of the worst defenses in the league last year, but have invested heavily in improving that side of the ball this offseason, especially in the NFL Draft.

“Improvement, a lot of improvement obviously form last year to this year, but deeper than that from those first five games,” Prescott said. “Take those first five games and just say we’re going to be better than that as a team. We’re going to play more complementary football from defense to offense to special teams, and then we’re going to have a healthy team.”

The NFC East is not exactly a juggernaut of a division, with the Washington Football Team winning it at 7-9 last year.

But with a healthy Prescott, offensive line and deeper defense, there is certainly plenty of reason why the Cowboys quarterback has faith things will be different this year.
