Dak Prescott bullish on Cowboys' potential despite flurry of offseason departures

It would be fair for Dak Prescott to be a little skeptical right now about the state of the Dallas Cowboys. It does not appear he is, though.

On the heels of another brutal postseason loss, the Cowboys this offseason saw their division, specifically the Philadelphia Eagles, get better while they suffered losses that included Randy Gregory, Amari Cooper and a handful of others.

Mainstays like Prescott and Ezekiel Elliott remain, but the cast around them includes plenty of unproven players -- including at receiver.

But the opportunity to be better after going through such a devastating loss in January heartbreak has Prescott optimistic about what’s ahead for the Cowboys.

“Very, very optimistic,” Prescott told Peter King on his podcast. “And because of the team we had last year and because of what we went through, the way that we've handled it moving forward, I think we're in a better position this year than we were last year. And I know some guys have gone and some guys have left and went to other teams, but that's the nature of this business.

“What we have built here, the core, the leaders, mixed with a great group of young guys who are hungry to make names for themselves and get in this league running, I feel very, very confident about where we are and excited about where we are and am just ready to keep building and get this thing rolling.”

There are a few stars that need to align in order for the Cowboys to finally reach their potential and push deeper into the postseason. Prescott seems, at the very least, encouraged that this group potentially could do that.
