Houston fans have been waiting some time to let Deshaun Watson now how they feel.

The former Texans quarterback returned to Houston on Sunday, making his debut for the Cleveland Browns following a suspension from alleged sexual assault and misconduct that took place in Houston and first time he’s stepped on a field not only since those allegations, but also since he demanded a trade from the Texans.

Naturally, Watson was greeted with heavy boos prior to running the first play.

The 27-year-old quarterback has not played since Jan. 2021following a disappointing 4-12 season with the Texans in which he subsequently expressed his desire to be traded.

Amid Watson’s grievances with his current team, sexual assault and misconduct allegations from massage therapists who treated him began to accumulate and any trade talk involving Watson quickly evaporated until after the season, when the Browns made a deal for him.

Watson will likely need to get used to the boos. While there are personal ties with the Houston fan base, the allegations against him were quite serious and disturbing that many fans around the league have a negative view of the quarterback.

As for how he looked on the field, Watson threw a red zone interception at the end of the first quarter, much to the delight of the Houston crowd.
