Dez Bryant is feared to have suffered a torn Achilles at New Orleans Saints practice on Friday, which would put the star wide receiver out for the season before playing a game.
Bryant, formerly of the Dallas Cowboys, had just signed with the Saints on Wednesday in a much-hyped midseason free-agent addition. Bryant had rejected overtures from other teams in waiting to ink the one-year, $600,000 pact with the Saints -- believing he had found an ideal fit with a Super Bowl contender.
The injury reportedly occurred on a routine route on the last play of practice. Bryant had to be helped off the field.
Bryant will undergo an MRI exam and receive a second opinion to confirm the extent of the injury.
