Eduardo Escobar etched his name in the Mets record books with a rare feat on Monday night.

The veteran infielder notched his first career cycle in the Amazin's 11-5 win over the Padres in San Diego. It was the Mets' first cycle in a decade, the last coming courtesy of utility man Jerry Hairston Jr. in April 2012.

Escobar clinched his historic night with an opposite-field, two-run standup triple in the top of the ninth inning, helping the Mets pad their lead.

After the game, the former Diamondbacks star said it was a "special" moment in his career.

“It’s unbelievable," Escobar said, per MLB.com. “It’s hard, hitting the cycle at this level. Today is a special night for me.”

The cycle was part of a huge six-RBI game for the 33-year-old, who has struggled at times early in his first season in New York. For the season, he was hitting .240/.311/.414 with five home runs and 24 RBIs after Monday's action.

For the Mets, Escobar's cycle was just the 11th in club history. Interestingly, it was also the first at San Diego's Petco Park, which opened in 2004.

Hairston's cycle came against the Rockies, at Coors Field, in a game in which the two teams combined for 36 hits and 27 runs in a Colorado victory. Batting fifth -- behind cleanup man David Wright and in front of Lucas Duda -- Hairston scored three runs and tallied four RBIs as part of his big game.
