Spencer Dinwiddie suffered a partially torn right ACL in Sunday’s loss to Charlotte, an injury that wasn’t fully discovered and disclosed until Monday afternoon.
So, the pregame prep for Monday’s game with Memphis was Steve Nash and the Nets’ first chance to talk about it in finality, and Nash got emotional when asked about it:
“Just deeply saddened for Spencer. It’s a tough break for him and for us,” Nash said, clearly getting flustered while answering. “He’s a great athlete, and a terrific player who was able to fill multiple roles for us. We all feel for Spence and look forward to him getting healthy and back on the floor.”
Caris LeVert, who is likely to step into the starting lineup in Dinwiddie’s place on non-load management days, doubled down, adding: “That's one of my brothers. Definitely with him."
Dinwiddie will undergo surgery at some point next week, per the team, and while the official stance is “updates will be provided beyond that,” it is likely that Dinwiddie will miss the remainder of the season.
