"Inside The NBA" is widely viewed as one of the greatest sports television shows of all time, thanks in large part to the culture created by host Ernie Johnson and Hall of Famer Charles Barkley.
However, their relationship was once tested when Johnson didn't appreciate a prank that Barkley pulled after being dared by Kenny "The Jet" Smith:
The clip above was obtained by Jimmy Traina of Sports Illustrated, and is part of a four-part documentary on the first 30 years of the show that will begin this Thursday. The program is titled "The Inside Story," and will air on TNT, as the show itself does.
Johnson has been the host of the show since it began in 1990, with Smith joining in the late 1990s. Barkley, an 11-time All-Star, joined the show in 2000. Shaquille O'Neal was added to the program for the 2011-12 season, the first year after he retired from the NBA. You get the sense from the clip above that a section of the documentary focuses on how the three accomplished NBA veterans came to appreciate Johnson, 64, as what holds the entire show together.
