Former NFL quarterback and wide receiver and Jeannette native Terrelle Pryor was arrested Wednesday morning for allegedly hitting a woman. The 32-year-old was arrested in Penn Township.
According to a criminal complaint, Pryor assaulted Shalaya Briston early Wednesday morning. Pryor is charged with simple assault, harassment and criminal mischief, according to court documents.

Briston, who was charged with aggravated assault and attempted homicide in November 2019 after Pryor was stabbed during an incident at a North Side apartment, told police that she and Pryor were separated but were out drinking together.
She told police she and Pryor got into an argument via text message and she stopped responding. She said he continued to send texts and allegedly called her cell phone nearly 50 times. Briston later returned to the residence where she told police she stayed on the back porch to avoid Pryor.
Pryor then went outside and allegedly “began shoving the victim,” adding that Pryor struck her with an open hand in the face causing an eye injury. As she ran away, Pryor is accused of throwing a deck chair at her as she ran to a vehicle. Once she was inside the vehicle, Pryor allegedly threw pumpkins at the front windshield, causing damage.
Briston then called 911 for assistance.
Pryor allegedly admitted to police he threw the pumpkins, but denied hitting the victim.
Pryor and Briston both pleaded guilty in a 2019 stabbing at Heinz Lofts. Briston pleaded guilty to simple assault. Pryor pleaded guilty to harassment.
Pryor was a highly touted two-sport player out of Jeanette in 2008 and choose football over basketball, going to Ohio State.
His time at Ohio State was marred by controversy with him allegedly driving with a suspended license. ESPN also reported that he made thousands of dollars in a memorabilia scandal.
Pryor withdrew from Ohio State in June of 2011 and entered the NFL’s Supplemental Draft. He was drafted by the Raiders.
Pryor most recently played for the Jacksonville Jaguars in 2019.
