Former NFL running back and current boxer Frank Gore was charged with simple assault this week stemming from an alleged domestic violence incident with a 28-year-old woman, according to TMZ Sports.
The alleged incident occurred on July 31 in Atlantic City when police were called to the Tropicana Atlantic City at 8:11 a.m. regarding a reported domestic violence dispute.
A 28-year-old woman, who remains unidentified, was speaking with hotel security upon the arrival of officers but “did not exhibit signs of injury and complaints were not filed at the time,” cops told TMZ.
An investigation was launched by police and charged Gore this week with simple assault “related to the domestic violence incident.”
No other details are known at this time.
Gore is scheduled to appear in a court hearing for the alleged incident in mid-October.
Gore, 39, is third on the NFL’s all-time leading rusher and enjoyed a 16-year career that spanned with the San Francisco 49ers, Indianapolis Colts, Miami Dolphins, Buffalo Bills and New York Jets.
He has since transitioned to a boxing career and earned his first professional win back in May.
