Wide receiver Golden Tate will not travel for the Giants' Week 9 game against Washington, the team announced on Saturday.

The apparent benching comes in the wake of a pair of outbursts from the veteran wideout during Big Blue's Week 8 loss against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.

Tate appeared to shout "throw me the damn ball" toward the Giants sideline on one occasion and later did so again in the direction of an ESPN camera after catching a touchdown pass during the Monday Night Football game.

His wife, Elise, then took to social media the same night to vent her frustration over what she said was a lack of touches and overall misuse of her husband in the Giants offense. The posts were since deleted.

Tate was told to stay away from Wednesday practice over the incident, and later in the week appeared to be demoted to the Giants' scout team.

The 32-year-old veteran signed a four-year, $37.5M contract with the Giants prior to last season, a deal that has not played out the way either side envisioned.

Tate's tenure has been marred by a PED suspension, injuries, and an ugly on-field brawl with Rams cornerback Jalen Ramsey, and there was some speculation he could be moved prior to the NFL trade deadline on Nov. 3.

The Notre Dame product and former Seahawk, Lion and Eagle has been relatively productive when healthy and engaged in the Giants' offense, though that has proven frustratingly fleeting as the unit has struggled to find its legs the past couple years.

Tate has played in 18 of possible 24 games since signing, reeling in 71 catches on 114 targets for 902 yards and 8 touchdowns.
