Fletcher Cox isn’t just settling into an elder statesman role, he’s making a big impact on the Philadelphia Eagles defense.
The 32-year-old stalwart of Philly’s defensive line, Cox hasn’t missed a beat this season. Though he’s yet to register a sack, he's getting into the backfield and has three quarterback hits this season with four tackles, as well as a fumble recovery.
This comes as the Eagles’ defensive line of the future takes shape. They’ve got a nice blend of young and old, with experienced stars like Cox and Brandon Graham helping bring along youngsters Jalen Carter, Josh Sweat and Milton Williams.
Graham on Monday in his weekly interview on the 94WIP Morning Show concurred with the theory that we might be witnessing a Cox renaissance.
“Ah, man, I just told him that too. I said 'Boy, I see you out there.' That’s what I’m saying,” Graham said. “It’s a lot of stuff, he didn't get those sacks, but he got the hits and (Kirk Cousins) definitely felt us back there. But of course, we know how he is. He’s very streaky, he can definitely get hot …
“On top of that man, I just think Fletch is out here hungry, that boy is hungry. Man, I love it because he’s got the young boys behind him, and I know exactly that feeling of I’ve got to get my stuff right because these boys out here they’re working, they’re young, so I think it just gave him a little more motivation”
