Pat Mahomes will take over the quarterback duties in Kansas City. Last year's starter, Alex Smith, was traded to Washington after leading the Chiefs to the playoffs in four of the last five years. There will be a lot of pressure on the young Mahomes, the 10th overall pick in the 2017 draft, to lead this team down the field and score points. The Chiefs defense is suspect and wasn't very good last season. They were 29th against the pass and 25th in the league against the run. But Mahomes will have a bunch of weapons at his disposal. Wide receiver Tyreek Hill is a speedster and with Mahomes strong arm should be a tremendous deep ball tandem. Sammy Watkins is another target along with tight end Travis Kelce. Kareem Hunt, who led the league in rushing last season, paces the running game, which should provide a balanced attack for Kansas City.

The Los Angeles Chargers are trying to make it back to the playoffs for the first time since 2013. Quarterback Philip Rivers had a good season last year throwing for over 4500 yards with 28 touchdowns and only 10 interceptions. Wide receiver Keenan Allen is back after missing the entire 2016 season. Now that Allen is back the Chargers need to keep Mike Williams healthy. That receiver tandem could prove dangerous but Williams' health is a big concern. The Chargers thought they had a replacement for Antonio Gates at tight end and let him walk. Hunter Henry, however, suffered a torn ACL in OTA's which left Virgil Green as the starter -- so Gates was re-signed. The Charges defense is led by the two edge rushers Joey Bosa and Melvin Ingram who can make Pat Mahomes run for his life.
