What is Thanksgiving football without a good, old-fashioned Dallas Cowboys-Washington Redskins division rivalry game? The Redskins lost QB Alex Smith last week to a gruesome broken leg that will sideline him for the season. Colt McCoy is a serviceable backup, though, so not all hope is lost for the first-place Redskins (6-4). The surging Cowboys (5-5) have a chance to move into a tie for the top spot in the NFC East with a victory. They are coming off an impressive 22-19 win in Atlanta on a last-minute field goal by Brett Maher. The Redskins lost in the final seconds when Dustin Hopkins missed a long, potential game-winning field goal.

Instead of solidifying their division lead at home against the Houston Texans on Sunday, the Redskins watched their starting QB sustain a brutal injury in a heartbreaking 23-21 loss. McCoy has been in this spot before and is one of the better backup QBs in the NFL. Is he good enough to lead this team to a division title? The schedule isn't terribly difficult: After the Cowboys, the Redskins will face the 4-6 Eagles twice, the 3-7 Giants, the 3-7 Jaguars, and the 5-5 Titans. The Redskins likely will hand the ball to future Hall of Fame running back Adrian Peterson 25-plus times and hope that he can find holes in what has been a phenomenal Cowboys defense. Peterson now ranks sixth all-time with 105 career rushing TDs. Trade deadline acquisition Ha Ha Clinton-Dix has been tremendous in his first three games with Washington. The safety tied his career high with 13 tackles last week.

The Cowboys defense is among the best in the NFL. DeMarcus Lawrence leads the team with eight sacks. Leighton Vander Esch has been a machine with 82 tackles, ranking second among NFL rookies. QB Dak Prescott has played better in the past two games, resulting in road wins in Philadelphia and Atlanta. He's also been using his legs to pick up first downs. The Cowboys know they are going to get a big game from Ezekiel Elliott almost every week; when Prescott is on, it makes this team so much more dynamic. Elliott finished with 201 yards from scrimmage and a TD last week. Can Prescott can get Amari Cooper going? The wide receiver, acquired from the Oakland Raiders for a first-round draft pick, hasn't been much of a factor. This game shapes up to be a heck of a Thanksgiving matchup, going on right when you're at the table stuffing your face.
